ICP DAS NS-216 is an unmanaged 16-port industrial Ethernet switch supporting 10/100 Base-TX with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDI-X. Featuring redundant dual power inputs (+12–48 VDC), relay alarm output, ESD/EFT protection, 1,500 Vrms port isolation, and store-and-forward architecture with a 16K MAC table, the NS-216 delivers high-reliability network connectivity for demanding industrial automation environments.
ICP DAS NS-216 is a robust unmanaged 16-port industrial Ethernet switch designed for network infrastructure in factory automation, building automation, and distributed control systems. All sixteen RJ-45 ports support 10/100 Base-TX with per-port auto-negotiation and automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover, enabling plug-and-play connectivity with any device type using standard straight-through cables — no crossover cables or manual configuration required.
The store-and-forward architecture buffers and verifies each incoming Ethernet frame before forwarding, filtering out corrupted or malformed packets and preventing error propagation across the network. With a 16K MAC address table and 4 Mbit frame buffer memory — significantly larger than entry-level switches — the NS-216 handles large-scale industrial networks with many connected nodes and bursty traffic patterns without packet loss or excessive collisions.
A key differentiator of the NS-216 over simpler switches is its redundant dual power input design. Both power inputs (+12 to +48 VDC) can be connected simultaneously to independent power sources; if one source fails, the other automatically takes over without interruption — eliminating single points of failure in the power supply chain. A relay alarm output (1A @ 30 VDC) provides an active signal to the control system when a power failure is detected, enabling immediate notification and response.
Electromagnetic compatibility is addressed through built-in EFT protection (±1 kV, IEC 61000-4-4) and ESD protection (±4 kV Contact, IEC 61000-4-2), while per-port 1,500 Vrms isolation prevents ground loops and electrical transients from propagating between connected devices. The NSM-216 metal casing variant adds IP30 ingress protection for environments with airborne particles.
With an operating temperature range of -25°C to +75°C, DIN-rail and wall-mount options, and ultra-low power consumption of 0.10 A at 24 VDC under full load, the NS-216 is an efficient and reliable backbone switch for industrial network infrastructure.
