ICP DAS NSM-216 is the metal casing variant of the NS-216 — an unmanaged 16-port 10/100 Base-TX industrial Ethernet switch with IP30 ingress protection. Featuring redundant dual power inputs (+12–48 VDC), relay alarm output, ESD/EFT protection, 1,500 Vrms port isolation, and store-and-forward architecture with a 16K MAC table, the NSM-216 is built for demanding industrial environments requiring enhanced mechanical durability.
ICP DAS NSM-216 is the metal casing variant of the NS-216 series — an unmanaged 16-port industrial Ethernet switch purpose-built for demanding factory automation, building automation, and distributed control system environments. The metal housing provides IP30 ingress protection against solid particle intrusion, making the NSM-216 better suited for open panel installations or environments with airborne dust and debris compared to plastic casing alternatives.
All sixteen RJ-45 ports support 10/100 Base-TX with per-port auto-negotiation and automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover for plug-and-play connectivity — no crossover cables or manual port configuration required. The store-and-forward architecture with a 16K MAC address table and 4 Mbit frame buffer memory handles large-scale industrial networks efficiently, filtering corrupted frames before forwarding and preventing error propagation across network segments.
Redundant dual power inputs (+12 to +48 VDC) allow simultaneous connection to two independent power sources. Should one source fail, the other instantly takes over with no network interruption — a critical feature for 24/7 industrial operations where network downtime is unacceptable. The integrated relay alarm output (1A @ 30 VDC) sends an active signal to the control system upon detecting a power failure, enabling immediate operator notification and response.
Built-in electromagnetic protection — EFT (±1 kV, IEC 61000-4-4) and ESD (±4 kV Contact, IEC 61000-4-2) — guards the switch against electrical fast transients and electrostatic discharge. Per-port 1,500 Vrms isolation prevents ground loops and electrical transients from propagating between connected devices across different grounding domains. Flow control is supported in both full-duplex (IEEE 802.3x) and half-duplex (backpressure) modes to prevent buffer overflow during high-traffic periods.
The NSM-216 supports both DIN-rail and optional wall mounting via accessory brackets (ASO-0023 or ASO-0058), with an operating temperature range of -25°C to +75°C and ultra-low power consumption of 0.10 A at 24 VDC under full load.
