Powtran PI150 Series is a compact smart frequency inverter available from 0.4 kW to 5.5 kW, supporting single-phase 220V and three-phase 220V/380V/480V input. Built on a high-performance DSP-based vector control system with V/F and sensorless vector control modes, 150% overload capacity, built-in PID controller, AVR, multi-speed operation, DC braking, and RS-485 communication — the PI150 Series delivers reliable variable speed drive performance in a DIN-rail and wall-mount compact form factor.
Powtran PI150 Series is a next-generation compact smart frequency inverter engineered to deliver high-performance variable speed drive capability across a wide range of industrial motor control applications. Available in power ratings from 0.4 kW to 5.5 kW with four input voltage variants — single-phase 220V, three-phase 220V, three-phase 380V, and three-phase 480V — the PI150 Series covers the majority of low-power industrial motor drive requirements in a remarkably compact DIN-rail mountable housing.
At the heart of the PI150 Series is a DSP-based high-performance vector control engine supporting both V/F control and sensorless vector control (W/O PG). In sensorless vector mode, the PI150 achieves a start torque of 150% at 0.5 Hz, speed range of 1:100, steady-state speed precision of ±0.5%, and torque response within 40 ms — performance levels typically associated with higher-tier drives — making the PI150 suitable for demanding constant-torque applications such as conveyors, compressors, and machine tools, in addition to standard variable-torque fan and pump duties.
The built-in automatic torque boost function ensures sufficient torque output at low speeds under V/F control without manual tuning. The adjustable carrier frequency (0.5–16 kHz, auto-adjusted by load characteristics) minimizes motor noise and heating, while automatic voltage regulation (AVR) maintains constant output voltage regardless of supply fluctuations. Speed tracking restart automatically identifies the running speed of a coasting motor before restart — preventing mechanical shock and overcurrent trips on re-energization of spinning loads.
Five digital inputs (DI), one analog input (AI1: 0–10V or 0–20mA), one relay output (5A/AC 250V or 5A/DC 30V with 40 programmable signal options), and one analog output (DA1: 0–10V or 0–20mA, 16 signal options) provide comprehensive I/O flexibility for integration into automation systems. Up to 16 multi-speed presets can be programmed via multi-function terminal combinations or internal program, and built-in PID control enables closed-loop process control without an external controller.
Protection functions include overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, overload, overheat, overcurrent stall, overvoltage stall, PID feedback signal abnormality, communication error, and short-circuit-to-ground protection. Up to three fault records with time stamp, voltage, current, frequency, and operating status details are stored for diagnostics. The integrated RS-485 port enables Modbus RTU communication for remote monitoring and parameter management from SCADA or PLC systems.
The PI150 Series complies with IEC 61800-5-1:2007 safety standard and IEC 61800-3:2005 EMC standard. Optional built-in brake unit (Z suffix models) eliminates the need for an external braking resistor connection module on all models up to 5.5 kW.
