Powtran PI550 Series is a high-performance current vector frequency inverter built on the PI500 platform with enhanced DSP control, true current vector algorithm, and Infineon IGBT for superior reliability. Available from 0.4 kW to 630 kW across single-phase 220V and three-phase 220V/380V/480V/660V variants, the PI550 Series delivers exceptional low-frequency torque, fast dynamic response, and broad communication support including RS-485, CANopen, and optional Modbus TCP for demanding industrial drive applications.
Powtran PI550 Series is a next-generation high-performance current vector frequency inverter developed as the flagship evolution of the PI500 platform. Built on a DSP core with a unique true current vector control algorithm and Infineon IGBT power modules, the PI550 Series achieves a significant step up in performance, reliability, and environmental adaptability compared to conventional V/F inverters — targeting demanding industrial applications in metallurgy, petroleum, chemical processing, steel, textile, paper, water supply, and general automation.
The true current vector control delivers class-leading low-frequency performance: start torque of 180% at 0.5 Hz (sensorless vector, W/O PG) — 30% higher than the PI150 Series — with a speed range of 1:100, steady-state speed accuracy of ±0.5%, and torque response within 20 ms. With closed-loop vector control (with PG encoder), speed range extends to 1:1,000 and speed accuracy improves to ±0.02%, making the PI550 suitable for high-precision positioning and speed-regulated processes. Overload capacity reaches 150% for 60 seconds and 180% for 2 seconds (G-type) — handling high-inertia load starts and shock loads reliably.
The PI550 Series supports a comprehensive suite of motor control algorithms: SVC (Sensorless Vector Control), FVC (Flux Vector Control with encoder), and V/F control — switchable via parameter — giving integrators flexibility across motor types and application requirements. The maximum output frequency reaches 3,200 Hz in V/F mode and 400 Hz in vector mode, covering high-speed spindle and special motor applications. The automatic energy-saving function dynamically reduces magnetizing current under light load conditions, cutting energy consumption during partial-load operation.
I/O capability is significantly expanded versus entry-level drives: 8 digital inputs, 2 digital outputs, 2 analog inputs (0–10V or 0–20mA), 1 analog output, and 2 relay outputs, with 16-speed multi-step operation, built-in PID, swing frequency (wobble), simple PLC function, timing control, and motor parameter auto-identification. Communication options include built-in RS-485 (Modbus RTU), optional CANopen, and optional Modbus TCP expansion card, enabling seamless integration into multi-drive systems and industrial SCADA/DCS architectures.
Available in multiple housing options — plastic shell wall-mount for lower power ratings, iron shell wall-mount for mid-range, and floor-standing cabinet for large-capacity models up to 630 kW — the PI550 Series covers the widest power range in the Powtran inverter lineup. Standard protection is IP20, with IP55 available on select models for harsher installation environments.
